Meadowbank Wines

Meadowbank was one of the first vineyards to prove that southern Tasmania’s cool climate could produce world-class wine. Nearly five decades on, the estate is still family-run — now by second-generation Mardi Ellis — and it still feels like what it is: a working property that happens to make exceptional Pinot Noir (the 2024 vintage won the Jimmy Watson Trophy) and welcomes guests with genuine warmth.

The setting is distinctly Tasmanian. The Derwent River runs along the property boundary, vines stretch across the slopes, and getting there means following a winding dirt road that leaves the rest of the world behind. Events here are built around the Long Lunch format — a vineyard walk, an in-depth tasting, a peek into the 150-year-old private cellar stocked with over 40 years of Meadowbank vintages, and then a long table, seasonal food, and more wine than you strictly need.
