Lauderdale Cottage is a six-acre orchard and sandstone home in New Town, Hobart. Built in 1844, it holds a rare place in Tasmanian history as a remarkable example of a Georgian Maritime Villa, and the only one still retaining its original title and orchard.
Once a gentleman’s country home, Lauderdale Cottage is now a private oasis close to Hobart’s CBD.
Since 2017, it’s been a family home. Over that time, they’ve carefully restored the once-neglected orchard and grounds, reclaiming the land from blackberries and weeds and replanting it with care.
Today, they welcome small weddings and elopements, as well as gardening and community groups.
